My Heart

I really don't know where to start on the this and the next bunch of pictures. The Lord brought us to the Philippines to live and be a part of the people. We are on an island that is 50% poverty, 80 % child and teen incest, sodomy and rape and 90% dedicated to idols at birth. We have been here 15 months now and I am just able to start posting about the children and teens and people here. We love them all and we are happy to be here. But our heart has hurt more than we ever imagined was possible. It is not the safest place to be because we are "white" and they tell me I am the only white woman they have seen. Would we trade living here for anything. No, we are right where we belong. I look at these pictures and I cry all over again. These children are so beautiful and so hurt. We hold them as they sob and cry because of what they have been through and we know we have to send them back to the same situation. We tell them about the Lord but it is hard because we speak a different language but we are learning their language. The Lord gave us a wonderful interpreter and a wonderful Maestra (language teacher). Both the interpreter and Maestra have stolen our hearts. They call us Mama and Daddy and we feel honored. Many have become so precious to us.

We have many people to thank, Patty & Loretta and others who send us clothes & soaps and necessities to take to the village people. The wonderful Intercessor's at LifeWay Church. The need here is so great that it gets overwhelming sometimes. We could not do this without the help So Thank you all.
This is an ongoing story so please follow with us as we walk through each day not knowing what the day will bring.

I am going to post some pictures without explanation. These are all children with their new clothes. I should have done this at the first since then it would have been after all the other posts but alas I didn't think about it . Sorry but beyond this are some more pictures with explanations.  Thank you for looking.  Hugs and loves to you.

The baby above didn't even have any clothes. so he got a blanket and some clothes . The same for the babies below and there are many more but I have made this long enough.

This is a common scene here, a grandmother
raising her grandchildren. We have one grandmother
that is raising 8 or 9 grandchildren. The youngest is
now about 4 months old and the oldest is probably 14.
We try to give her powdered milk and clothes to feed the
children but we don't always have it.  Most grandmothers
you see are skin and bones because they go without eating
to feed the grandchildren and that is the way it is with the
grandmother we are helping.  This grandmother above
would have been happy for powdered milk but at that
point we didn't have any. I am hoping we can find her
again
This little girl was at the outdoor market where people bring
vegetables and fish to sell.  It is a place that would never be
allowed in other countries but it is what they have here
and many children go there hoping someone will give them
something to eat.  This little girl one of our small team saw
and gave here a new shirt and this soft toy.  I can't imagine
what it must be like to get something like that that they have
never had.
This little sweetie got a clown and 6 pair of
new underwear. It looks like she can't
believe it.
We love seeing them get something they would
not have and also clothes that some wonderful
people send us.  A big thank you to them
This lady received a coloring paper for her children
and some clothes for herself and her children and the
blue and white checkered bath town.
This little guy like the others got a toy and he chose
the Raggedy Andy doll. We have other toys but
that is what he wanted.  Now he has something to cuddle with.

Please go on to the next page for more pictures , Thank you. ;)

This one really got to me.  They were offered toys to play with and new shirts
but they saw the powdered and wanted powdered milk instead so they got
the powdered milk and two shirts.  Milk here is to expensive for people
to buy so they dilute coke which is very cheap in a big bottle and the
children drink that. So when they see powdered milk they will take
than more than anything.

This one gets to me :)

Look at this cutie, she got a new outfit and a little
stuffed bear.
This daddy was taking a book and pencils and powdered milk
to his children.  When we get powdered milk here we bag it
in sandwich bags so that the children get some nourishment.
This little cutie got a toy and a pencil and some Crocks shoes and clothes.
She is showing off her toy to her Mama.
They are happy with their pencils too.

Pencils

These Children were just happy to get pencils for school.  1 or 2 pencils each and they acted like they
had a great gift.

Heart Breaker

I didn't realize it had been so long since I posted. Please forgive me. It has been an interesting 2018 for us and I am sure for many of you too.

This little girl had never had a toy and like many of the children she was afraid we would take it back
from her.  You would think after our time here that we would not get teary eyed anymore but we still do.

We have so many women here who have babies and no husband or anyone to help them because many times the husband or boy friend will leave as soon as the woman gets pregnant and go find someone else. So I am going to post a couple of pictures of the babies.  Because I love babies and want them all.  We are looking for some and to buy and build an orphanage and a center to take in children off the streets that are being used and also made to do anything to make their "owner
money. Also a place to train young people in the right kind of life and also take in older people who cannot live on their own or their children have discarded them. We have found some land so many of the children who live on the streets like a ew below would be taken into the orphanage. But it is not to be an ordinary orphanage. Each child would have its own room and also a teacher for them and the older people could teach the younger children about the correct customs of this land and be a grandparent to them and the children would give the older people a reason to live.   Also a training center for young people who want to minister and learn the ways of the Lord.
Please pray for us that we can help these people more.
